The 3-week online EKG Technician program includes 52 hours of online instructor-led and self-paced class sessions. Half of the program is instructor-led, and the other half is self-paced.
EKG technicians operate and monitor electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment for patients during diagnostic testing and surgical procedures. They report their findings to physicians who make diagnostic decisions based on the results. EKG technicians are also responsible for the maintenance of equipment and preparing patients for various cardiovascular tests.
EKG Technicians are in high demand! EKG Technicians can find immediate employment in medical and surgical hospitals, specialty long-term care facilities, private practices, outpatient care centers, medical and diagnostic laboratories, and other healthcare settings.
Upon the completion of the EKG technician Program, the student will be eligible to sit for the EKG Technician Certification (ETC) examination administered by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) or the Certified EKG Technician (CET) administered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
IT’S A GREAT TIME TO BE AN EKG TECHNICIAN!
According to the California Occupational Guides, the number of Cardiovascular Technologists and Technicians is expected to grow much faster than average growth rate for all occupations. Jobs for Cardiovascular Technologists and Technicians are expected to increase by 16%.
